When i was setting up VMware esx for the first time at home, i was seeking for a free iscsi target for testing esx with iscsi LUN’s. If you want to learn about iscsi i recommend to just download these appliances and install them in your lab enviroment. Read the manuals which most of the time are included and you will learn a lot about how to implement iscsi in vmware esx. Tomas, you forgot the best one of all! FreeNAS is a very tiny (32MB installed, ony 128MB RAM required), incredibly fast software NAS, based on FreeBSD. It supports CIFS (samba), FTP, NFS, AFP, RSYNC, iSCSI and much more! Configuring is easy with the integrated Web-interface.
